Extremely fine, decaf, 100% Arabica coffee powder for adding all-natural coffee flavoring into baked goods; for sprinkling on top of (or between) cake layers; or for sprinkling on top of latte's for added flavor.
This is our dark roast Colombian coffee, ground to the finest powder we can provide. It is real Arabica coffee that will provide a much better flavor than that often obtained by using instant coffee (which is primarily made from cheaper, less aromatic, robusto beans).
1/2 to 2 tsp per cake layer or cupcake batch is suggested, depending upon the amount of coffee flavor that is desired. For sprinkling on top of layers, a 50-50 mix with powdered sugar is suggested. For real coffee cravers, this mixture can be lightly sprinkled on top of cappuccinos or lattes in the place of cocoa powder.
For a Mocha flavoring, mix equal parts of this powder, cocoa powder and confectioner's sugar.
For even more coffee flavor, this powder can be used to prepare an espresso that is used to replace part of the liquid in batters or dough...figure 1 tablespoon per each 4-6 oz of water. Please note that, because of the extreme fineness of this powder, some of it will pass thru the espresso basket. This need not be strained out as its extreme fineness will not be gritty, bitter, or otherwise objectionable, in the finished baked goods.
